Profile

Widdop played most of his junior rugby league in northern England before moving to Melbourne with his family at 16. From there, he developed rapidly within the VRL system, eventually graduating into Melbourne Storm’s under-20s squad. Playing mostly at fullback, Widdop, who can also switch between wing, centre and either halves position, came of age in 2009, dominating the competition from the No.1 position. He made the NYC team of the year and scored the match-winning try in the Storm’s grand final victory.

With Billy Slater ahead of him, Widdop is set for a priceless apprenticeship in 2010 learning from the best. The Englishman’s versatility will assist him in pushing for a first grade spot as the season progresses.
